Today, Florida House Democrats were joined by their GOP colleagues to advance in-state tuition for Dreamers. This legislation will make a college education affordable for thousands of bright young Americans, giving them a firm path to joining the middle class.

Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant made the following statement:

“This is good news for Florida’s Dreamers and our Hispanic community. Now will the Florida Senate Republicans and Rick Scott continue to block efforts to give Hispanic students a shot at attaining a college education? It is past time for the Florida GOP to put down Republican Congressional playbook and stop blocking this commonsense legislation. 

“Florida Democrats have long been calling for in-state tuition for Florida Dreamers, and it’s time that the Florida legislature pass this legislation and bring hope to the thousands of undocumented students who are looking to contribute to communities throughout Florida.”
