As we all saw last night, Rick Scott attempted to side step answering direct questions about rescheduling an execution for a political fundraiser. Scott would not tell Floridians whether or not he knew the execution was delayed for a fundraiser, and simply kept repeating, “She apologized,” referring to Pam Bondi. 

But why would Rick Scott throw his attorney general under the bus so publicly? Perhaps it was an attempt to hide the fact that Rick Scott also attended a fundraiser on the night the execution was originally supposed to take place. As the Tampa Bay Times reported, “He will be at a reception in Broward County raising money for his re-election campaign.”  

As he always does, Scott plead the fifth and refused to take responsibility for his actions.
