Move Will Bring Clarity to Crisis Created by House GOP’s Grandstanding

Today, following the filing by Senate Democrats in the Florida Supreme Court of a writ of mandamus to determine if the Florida House violated the state Constitution earlier this week by its motion to unilaterally adjourn, Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant issued the following statement:

“I commend Senate Democrats for working to find a solution to this dysfunction created by House Republicans. It’s embarrassing that we’ve reached the point where the Supreme Court has to tell House Republicans to show up for work. While Republicans in the House throw a temper tantrum, Democrats in the Senate are ready to do the work of the people of Florida. This dereliction of duty by House Republicans is unacceptable, and I look forward to the clarity that the Supreme Court will bring.”
