Today, following Rick Scott’s signing into law the 24-hour abortion waiting period bill HB 633, Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant released the following statement:

“It comes as little surprise that Rick Scott would embrace this demeaning, anti-woman measure that limits the freedom Florida women have in making medical decisions. It would be an understatement to say that this measure is unneeded and unwanted. This is a government intrusion into the deeply personal decisions a woman arrives at with her faith and her doctor, plain and simple.

“Yet again, the Florida GOP has shown that they are willing to check their small government rhetoric at the door when it comes to relitigating culture wars they lost long ago. The women of Florida will not forget this come 2016.”
