Florida Democratic Party Hires Deputy Political Director Sheyla Asencios

Today, Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant announced the hiring of Sheyla Asencios as Deputy Political Director in charge of Hispanic outreach.

“We absolutely are thrilled to have Sheyla join our team,” said FDP Chair Allison Tant. “Sheyla was a tremendous asset last cycle, and I look forward to her continued efforts energizing and empowering communities across Florida to help deliver victories to Democrats up and down the ballot. ”

“I’m honored and excited to be rejoining Chair Tant’s team as we head into such a crucial election cycle,” said Sheyla Asencios. “I look forward to helping lead our Party’s outreach efforts to our state’s underrepresented communities, as well as working alongside our Democratic elected officials and grassroots to keep Florida blue in 2016.”

Sheyla Asencios is a Florida Democratic political staffer with strong connections across the state’s Hispanic communities. The 29 year-old Peruvian native joined the Florida Democratic Party as Central Florida’s Hispanic Outreach Coordinator in 2013, where she provided support to elected officials, launched voter registration efforts and carved an infrastructure for the Party’s Hispanic Media Relations efforts. She later joined former Governor Charlie Crist and Annette Taddeo’s team as Director of Hispanic Media. Sheyla will work at the Party’s satellite office in Miami this election cycle.
