Today’s Supreme Court ruling dealt a strong rebuke to Republicans like Donald Trump and Marco Rubio who have championed efforts to rollback women’s reproductive health care rights. Rubio, who went as far as to file an amicus brief supporting the unconstitutional Texas law, doubled down down in response to today’s ruling and continues to hold a Supreme Court seat open in the hopes that Donald Trump will appoint a justice who would repeal Roe vs. Wade.
“Donald Trump and Marco Rubio’s dangerous agenda could not be more out of touch with the women of Florida,” said FDP Chair Allison Tant. “Rubio believes Roe v. Wade is ‘not settled law,’ thinks employers should be able to deny birth control coverage to female employees, and wants to ban abortion across the country — even in cases of rape and incest. He even refuses to do his job and fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court in the hopes that the next justice will be appointed by Donald Trump, who believes women should be punished for getting an abortion.
“Florida families cannot afford to let Trump and Rubio turn back the clock with their anti-woman agenda.”
