Today, Marco Rubio appeared by video at the 2016 Republican National Convention in support of the man he called a “fraud” and a “con artist.” Despite a year of Trump’s racist, anti-Semitic, and xenophobic campaign statements, Rubio still stands proudly with the Republican Party’s nominee.
In response, Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant issued the following statement:
“After humiliating himself with arguments over hand size, wet pants, and suffering crushing electoral defeat in Florida, Marco Rubio will proudly stand in support of a man he doesn’t trust with nuclear weapons. Rubio’s willingness to say and do anything is exactly why he lost 66 of 67 counties to Trump four months ago. Since then, Rubio has dutifully fallen in line as Trump continues to ramp up his hateful, dangerous rhetoric.
“By weakly siding with the man he called a ‘con artist,’ Rubio is proving what Floridians already know: No-Show Marco is nothing more than a self-centered career-politician heavy on ambition and light on substance.”
