HB 7055 Is an Assault on Public Education

Florida Democratic Party Spokeswoman Caroline Rowland released the following statement after HB 7055 passed the Florida House of Representatives:

“Florida Republicans are once again showing that their own special interests come before the best interest of our children, and their future. This bill is a continued assault on our public education system that has been going on for nearly two decades with our Republican controlled legislature. They are taking money from our public schools and giving it to unaccountable voucher schools in which Republican lawmakers, like Speaker Corcoran, are benefitting from. HB 7055 goes even further in that it attacks our teachers unions, who work hard to protect the rights of our teachers. Unlike the Republicans who passed this bill, the Democratic Party stands with hard working educators across this state, not the special interest groups set to benefit from this legislation.”
