Florida Senate Republicans Attack Public School Teachers, Cave to Corcoran

Today, Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Kevin Donohoe released the following statement on the Senate votes on amendments to CS/HB 7055:

“Republicans in Tallahassee are trying to silence Florida’s teachers, destroy their union, and then arm them with guns. It’s disgusting and absurd. Senate Republicans today made clear that even during this difficult time for teachers, they are still hyper-focused on demonizing educators and limiting students’ access to a high-quality education.

“Today’s vote was a loss for Florida’s students, teachers and school administrators, and proof that Senate Republicans are afraid to stand up to Richard Corcoran and his dream of destroying Florida’s public education system. Lawmakers should be working to keep our schools safe from gun violence, instead of viciously attacking the teachers who sacrifice so much for their students.”
