FDP Responds to Amendment on Removing Arming Teachers Provision from Gun Legislation Failing

“The GOP isn’t fooling anyone when they try to make the claim that arming our teachers keeps our students safe. We can’t expect our teachers, or any professional working in a school for that matter, to act as law enforcement. Even more insulting, the GOP wants to throw in a $500, one-time bonus to teachers who sign up for the so-called “school marshal” program. We need to fully fund school resource officers, and remove assault weapons from our streets – until then, we aren’t doing enough to protect our students,” said FDP Executive Director Juan Penalosa.
