FDP Responds to Current Gun Legislation After Saturday Session

“Today, Florida Senate Republicans had multiple opportunities to do the right thing, but instead they showed exactly who they are – and what they represent by ignoring the wishes of the Parkland students, mental health professionals, gun control advocates, and the majority of Floridians. Republicans voted to weaponize educators, take away power from local governments, and refused to ban assault weapons. This bill as it stands is an atrocity will not prevent another tragedy like Pulse or Parkland,” said FDP Executive Director Juan Penalosa.
