FDP Responds to Amendment to Remove Guardian Program Failing 

FDP Executive Director Juan Penalosa released the following statement after the Amendment removing the Guardian program failed to pass the House Tuesday:

“The GOP isn’t fooling anyone by changing the language regarding arming teachers. Our position is the same as it was – guns in our schools do not keep our children safe. The idea that arming custodians, cafeteria workers, coaches, school counselors or librarians is the solution to preventing a mass shooting is idiocy. What we need to do is fully fund school resource officers, ban assault rifles and pass universal background checks.”
