Putnam's Agriculture Department Approved Nearly a Hundred Concealed Carry Permits Without Background Checks

A new report from the Associated Press finds that between 2010 and 2012, the Agriculture Department approved 99 concealed weapons permits without a proper review and thousands of other licenses — and in one case allowed a felon to become an armed security guard.

The report makes clear that Putnam’s management of the concealed carry system was riddled with failure — and dates back well before his approval of 365 concealed carry licenses without a proper background check.

“Adam Putnam is a liar who has spent years endangering the people of Florida and then covering it up. After every new scandal at the Department of Agriculture, Putnam has tried to shift the blame to someone other than himself. Today’s report makes clear that the real problem is Adam Putnam and his dangerous incompetence. For years, Putnam has been too busy selling out to the NRA to do his job and protect the people of Florida,” said FDP spokesperson Kevin Donohoe.
