Instead of apologizing for his racist line of questioning during a clemency hearing last week, Jimmy Patronis has doubled down, and Republicans like Pam Bondi defended his remarks. The questioning is the latest incident to shed light on Florida’s broken system to restore felon’s voting rights.

FDP Chair Terrie Rizzo released the following statement in response to Jimmy Patronis comments in a clemency hearing:

​”Jimmy Patronis’ line of questioning during the Erwin Jones clemency hearing is undeniably racist, and he should apologize now – and Rick Scott and his administration should immediately condemn these appalling remarks. His questions had nothing to do with voting rights. Patronis has no place continuing to serve on this clemency board. This is the latest example of an unfair system that must and will be changed.”
