Lourdes Castillo de la Peña, a longtime supporter of Ron DeSantis, has drawn national condemnation for her vicious attacks against Dr. Christine Blasey Ford on CNN. de la Peña is a member of DeSantis’ Florida finance team and his Campaign Coordinator in Miami-Dade.

Today, FDP Chairwoman Terrie Rizzo released the following statement calling on Ron DeSantis to fire de la Peña and denounce her attacks on Dr. Ford:

“Lourdes Castillo de la Peña’s attacks on Dr. Christine Blasey Ford were horrifying and have rightfully drawn national condemnation. DeSantis should immediately fire de la Peña from his campaign and denounce the shaming of victims of sexual assault. Ron DeSantis needs to make clear that women must be believed.

“Finally, it’s time for DeSantis to look in the mirror and ask himself why so many of his closest allies spout such toxic rhetoric.”
