Today, Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Kevin Donohoe released the following statement on the House Education Committee’s vote to implement a massive voucher scheme:

“Today’s committee meeting was an embarrassment. Republicans limited any rigorous debate, filled the room with corporate special interests posing as ‘supporters’, and brought in at least two Koch-backed front groups to speak. The truth is this bill is an unconstitutional effort to redirect public school funding to corporate donors — without doing anything to help our kids. House Republicans are abusing the legislative process to rush this bill through because they know it would never hold up under sustained scrutiny.”
