Rick Scott Voted Against Restoring Funds to Tyndall Air Force Base

Florida’s junior senator voted to uphold Donald Trump’s theft of millions of dollars from Tyndall Air Force Base to build his border wall.

On September 25, Sen. Rick Scott voted against terminating Trump’s border wall emergency declaration. As part of Trump’s emergency declaration, he cut $17 million from Florida’s Tyndall Air Force Base that is still recovering from Hurricane Michael.

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, blasted Scott for abandoning Florida:

“Senator Rick Scott voted to abandon Florida today. Tyndall is an essential air force base in our Florida Panhandle, and Scott voted to uphold Donald Trump’s theft of millions of dollars from Tyndall. To refuse to vote to stop the theft of funds from one of our military bases in Florida to appease the whims of Donald Trump is a slap in Florida’s face — and especially our hard-hit Panhandle. This shows for all to see that Rick Scott, like Donald Trump, doesn’t stand up for Florida’s Panhandle, but instead abandons them.”
