Florida Democrats Hold Day of Action to Commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Over 30 Events Planned Across the State

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, this Monday, January 20, the Florida Democratic Party will hold a voter registration day of action. The party has planned over 30 events across the state.

Trained organizers and volunteers will be out registering new voters and enrolling voters in vote-by-mail. The goal is to complete 500 volunteer shifts by the end of the weekend.

“In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, we need to stand up and take action to participate in our democracy. On the most basic level, that means exercising our right to vote. The first step is to make sure you are registered with your local county and then to educate yourself on the issues important to you and your family, and finally to vote on election day. On this historic day marking Dr. King’s legacy, the Florida Democratic Party is bringing voter registration to a location near you,” said Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party.

Rizzo will be taking part in the day of action, volunteering at the Restoring The Village event and forum in Riviera Beach.

Democrats will be out registering voters in over 30 locations, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade in Liberty City and in Pompano Beach.

The Florida Democratic Party saw an unprecedented amount of volunteer engagement in 2019 for an off-year. Last year, Democrats completed 1221 percent more volunteer shifts than we did in 2015.
