Florida Democratic Party Slams DeSantis for Hiding Information on Coronavirus Cases in Florida

The recent news of Governor Ron DeSantis not releasing the number of people tested for Coronavirus in the state and what areas may be affected has drawn strong criticism from members of Congress and state legislators, many leaders blame him for misinterpretation of the state statute that protects the identity of people under epidemiological investigation.

Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo released the following statement:

“It’s not unusual for Governor DeSantis to hide information from the public — but this isn’t about protecting the governor’s tainted image, this is about public health and safety. The people of Florida deserve a governor who is not afraid of public scrutiny and transparency. Florida is a top tourist destination and there is a lot at stake for our people and our economy. We demand Governor DeSantis to interpret the state statute accordingly and share the data to the public and officials.”
