Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo On Passage of Alyssa’s Law

On March 10, the Florida Legislature passed Alyssa’s Law, a bill that would require all schools to implement a panic alarm system. The bill is now heading to Governor Ron DeSantis’ desk for his signature.

Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo released the following statement and congratulated the work of State Senator Lauren Book and State Representatives, Michael Gottlieb, and Dan Daley for passing this measure, as well as the work of Alyssa’s parents, Lori and Ilan Alhadeff, who turned their unimaginable loss into action to protect other students:

“For years, Democrats have been working to protect our schools and to prevent massacres like the ones we have experienced. We applaud this important and necessary public safety legislation that will save the lives of our children and teachers, and we will continue pushing for major reforms to our gun laws.”
