Today, the Florida Democratic Party spokeswoman Luisana Perez Fernandez released the following statement about the announcement of Trump visiting the Southern Command in Doral:

“While Trump comes for a photo-op in Doral, thousands of Venezuelans are suffering the consequences of his hypocrisy. If he really cares about the Venezuelan community he should halt the deportation and detention of those fleeing the Maduro dictatorship, and stop his attacks on the asylum system on which many Venezuelan refugees depend. Trump knows that he needs to win Florida to go back to the White House, but his lip-service to Venezuelans won’t help him do that. We need a leader who really cares about our community and will protect Venezuelan refugees, and that leader is Joe Biden.”
