ICYMI: Ahead of Florida Rally, State Sens. Braynon, Taddeo, Pizzo, and Rep. Jones Slammed Trump for Reckless Event

Today, ahead of Donald Trump’s reckless rally in Opa-Locka tonight,  State Sens. Oscar Braynon, Annette Taddeo, and Jason Pizzo, State Rep. Shevrin Jones, and Miami Dade Democratic Party Chair Steve Simeonidis held a press conference outside of the North Dade Regional Library early voting site to hold Trump accountable for his disastrous COVID-19 response that has led to an ongoing unemployment and health crisis in Florida. They urged every eligible voter to make a plan, and cast their ballot for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and Democrats up and down the ballot.

HIGHLIGHTS:

State Sen. Oscar Braynon II, SD-35, district where Trump is hosting the rally: “The president plans to come to this district for a super spreader event in a community that didn’t even have a normal community Halloween party last night because they’re afraid of covid. Look, we all know that the African American community has been hit harder than any other community because of covid. It’s not just hurting us, it’s killing us. It is irresponsible. It’s negligent….Trump only cares about himself…but in Miami Dade we are facing a crisis, especially in the African American community, which is right here in District 35…”

State Rep. Shevrin Jones, candidate for SD-35: “This is the largest Black district in the state of Florida and how disrespectful it is for the President of the United States, who has no regard for science, who has no regard for any other life than his own, to bring something here that he knows in the African American community has already shown that it’s killing us at an alarming rate, and at a faster rate than any other race here in the United States of America. Donald Trump, shame on you.”

State Sen. Annette Taddeo: “We need a president that respects democracy…This year we have seen too many losses, too much division. Joe Biden will unite the American people and be a president for everyone.”

State Sen. Jason Pizzo: “This is panic mode for the Trump campaign. It’s an absolute disregard for lives and safety. And this is absolutely a demonstration of the difference between the campaigns.”

Steve Simeonidis, Miami Dade Democratic Party Chair:  “We’re at an early voting site in Miami Gardens because on the last day to early vote and just 2 days before Election Day, the most important thing we can do for the future of our county is to vote…Today, Donald Trump is bringing a massive super-spreader event to Dade County. He has the gall to do that when he has no plan for COVID.”
