Marco Rubio Calls Bipartisan Investigations Into January 6 Rioters Who Violently Attacked Police Officers A “Partisan Scam”

In an interview on Face The Nation this morning, Marco Rubio refused to answer a simple question about whether the Republican National Committee spoke for him when they declared that the deadly January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol where violent protestors attacked law enforcement officers was “legitimate political discourse.” Rubio went on to attack the work of the bipartisan Select Committee On The January 6 Attack.

“The attackers who stormed the Capitol on January 6 beat law enforcement with flag poles, threatened to kill the Vice President, and sparked riots that led to the deaths of five people, including a police officer. Yet Marco Rubio was too weak to distance himself from those in his party who claim that the events of that day were ‘legitimate political discourse.’ His lack of courage to stand up for those who defended the Capitol and upheld our democracy is as pathetic as it is unpatriotic,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.

Throughout the interview, Rubio called the work of the January 6 Committee a “partisan scam” and when asked about Mike Pence’s recent speech on certifying election results, Rubio was too afraid to say whether Donald Trump was wrong to pressure Mike Pence to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
