Marco Rubio Skips Foreign Relations Committee Hearing On Key Ambassador Nominations

Marco Rubio failed to show up to today’s Foreign Relations Committee hearing on nominees for important State Department positions, including the ambassador to Chile and an official who will be crucial in efforts to help those fleeing war in Ukraine. Rubio has skipped at least a half dozen public Foreign Relations Committee hearings so far this year, and missed multiple hearings covering topics relevant to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“At a time when critical foreign policy decisions are being made every day, Marco Rubio is missing in action. Failing to show up to hearings to make sure America is supporting our allies is a dereliction of duty, and it’s why Rubio deserves to be fired in November,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.
