Marco Rubio Gets Slammed For Caving To His Drug Industry Donors, Opposing Insulin Price Cap

As the cost of insulin rises, Marco Rubio’s vote against a bipartisan plan to lower the price of insulin is making news across the state. Diabetic patients and advocates are calling out Rubio for voting for higher prices for this vital medication.

“Marco Rubio cares more about fighting for the drug companies that fund his campaign than the everyday Floridians struggling with the high cost of insulin. Nobody should be forced to ration life-saving medication because they can’t afford their prescriptions. Rubio’s vote to protect his drug company donors instead of lowering prescription drug prices for Floridians is unconscionable,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.

See below for highlights from recent coverage of Rubio’s vote

WPLG: “Both Republican Senators from Florida, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott voted against the insulin cap.”

WINK: “Plans to cap insulin at $35 for insured people got killed from the Inflation Reduction Act…over the weekend, Republican Senators voted to strip the cap. On that list, Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott.”
