With 50 Days Until Election Day, Marco Rubio Refuses To Say Whether He’d Accept The Results Of The Election

New reporting from the Washington Post reveals that Marco Rubio is refusing to say whether he would accept the results of the 2022 election as legitimate. The post surveyed candidates in 19 competitive statewide races and found Rubio was one of just five who would not say if they will accept the results of their elections.

“Floridians deserve to know that their leaders will respect their votes, not try to overturn them or cast doubt on elections if they don’t get what they want. But Marco Rubio doesn’t have the courage to stand up to the extremists in his party and defend the basic foundations of our democracy. Selfishly undermining the legitimacy of our elections so he can score points with his party bosses is not only a shameful new low for Rubio, it’s dangerous,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.

Rubio has a history of catering to his party’s extreme attempts to undermine American elections. In the aftermath of the 2020 election, he echoed that there were many “doubts” about the results. Rubio has called legislation to protect voting rights “ridiculous,” and attacked the bipartisan January 6 committee as a “scam.”
