Barely a week after trading blows over COVID-19 response and electability, Ron DeSantis ramped up his feud with Donald Trump at a press conference in Marion County this morning.
When asked about his response to Trump’s recent Truth Social posts, DeSantis interrupted a reporter’s question to attack Donald Trump by saying, “I don’t spend my time trying to smear other Republicans.”
Although only one of them has officially announced a campaign for the White House, Trump and DeSantis have been trying to land early attacks against each other for months. The two have taken to social media and press conferences to make increasingly direct accusations in attempts to diminish each other’s standing with voters. In previous months, Trump has taken credit for DeSantis’s successful 2018 run for governor, while DeSantis has taunted Trump for his failure to get reelected in 2020.
