Florida Democrats Welcome Debbie Mucarsel-Powell to U.S. Senate Race
Today, former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell announced her candidacy for United States Senate. In response, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:
“Rick Scott’s support from Floridians is underwater,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried, “and it couldn’t be more clear why. Florida is in an economic crisis. Inflation is double the national average, and rent and property insurance are through the roof — but Rick Scott is championing his plan to take away your Social Security and Medicare, enact a national abortion ban and cut his own taxes at your expense. He is only looking out for one person — himself — not the people of Florida.
“We welcome DMP into this race, the first South American ever elected to Congress and a proven fighter. Over the coming months, the Florida Democratic Party will make it clear why it’s past time to kick Rick Scott out of the Senate and replace him with a leader who will actually fight for the needs of Floridians.”
