Florida Democratic Party Slams New Anti-DEI Rules from Florida Board of Education

Today, the Florida Board of Education approved new rules that bar public colleges from using state and federal funds for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs on college campuses. In response, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:

“Ron’s relentless attack on our constitutional freedoms continues,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Instead of protecting students from discrimination, the state’s new definition of DEI actually opens the door for increased discrimination based on race, color, sex, national origin, gender identity, and sexual orientation. This broad DEI ban is an insult to the fine student organizations on Florida’s college campuses that provide community support to a wide variety of college students.

“The Florida GOP’s crusade against diversity initiatives diminishes the quality of education that our students receive and threatens their chances at succeeding in the workforce after graduation. Floridians are sick of watching Ron do nothing about property insurance or healthcare while being forced to fight his made up culture wars — he has to know that this won’t save his failed presidential campaign.”
