Marco Rubio Skips Committee Hearing On Funding Capitol Police

Marco Rubio failed to show up to a key committee hearing today covering funding requests for Capitol Police and security in the aftermath of January 6. This isn’t the first time Rubio has failed to stand up for the Capitol Police. In March, he voted against bipartisan legislation funding the department.

“Violent rioters stormed the Capitol on January 6, killing a police officer and wounding others. The least Marco Rubio can do is show up to work to make sure the brave men and women who protect the Capitol have the funding they need to do their jobs. His failure to do that is a new low in his long record of absenteeism,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.

Rubio also skipped a hearing this morning on funding for the Indian Health Service, the agency responsible for providing critical public health services to Native Americans across the country.
