FLORIDA DEMOCRATS FILE TO CONTEST ALL 28 CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS IN 2024

On Friday, Florida Democrats filed and qualified to contest all 28 Congressional Districts in 2024. It’s the first time Florida Democrats have filled a full slate of congressional candidates since 2018.

“Florida Democrats just filed to compete for every congressional seat,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “It does not matter if we’re running in Pensacola or Key West, every part of this state is worth fighting for and we are not going to let Florida Republicans walk into office without being held accountable. Florida Democrats are fired up and ready to compete everywhere.”

Earlier this month, the Florida Democratic Party launched a targeted candidate recruitment campaign with billboards and digital ads across the state, encouraging candidates to run for office. Since the campaign launched, the Florida Democratic Party has received over 100 applications for support and resources and coordinated with congressional candidates to get them across the finish line in time for today’s qualifying deadline.

“When we have candidates running everywhere, we give Democrats in every corner of the state a reason to show up and vote on Election Day. If I were Rick Scott or Donald Trump, I would be very nervous. In 2024, we are going to elect Democrats to help Take Back the House and defend the Senate majority,” Chair Fried added.

The next qualifying deadline is June 14 for county offices, special districts, and state legislative races. For more information, candidates considering running for office in any of the uncontested districts are encouraged to visit floridadems.org/runforoffice to apply for resources and support.
